This video is the companion to our panel discussion for schools and trusts exploring the role of digital transformation on our education system.
Increasingly schools and trusts are looking at how they can roll out and generate value from the digital assets they create (as well as other resources available to trusts). As such we are seeing growing interest from trusts wanting to set up a trading subsidiary to help manage risk. If this is the case in your trust, then this video is for you.
Intellectual property and commercial law expert Selina Hinchcliffe and Nick MacKenzie from our Education team will take you through the key considerations you will want to reflect on as part of exploring setting up a trading subsidiary. To help you plan with confidence, they will consider, amongst other things:
- trading by charities
- choice of corporate vehicle and corporate structures
- developing and protecting intellectual property rights
- trading terms and conditions and associated intellectual property agreements
- employee matters and consent issues.
